Yuval Bitan, Ph.D. 

Yuval Bitan is a researcher and a Human Factors engineer, specialized in ways to improve patient safety through the implementation of human factors principles in the healthcare complex working environment.
​
Yuval was a Research Associate at the Cognitive Technologies Laboratory (University of Chicago, Illinois), HumanEra (University Health Network, Toronto, Canada) and at the University of Toronto.

Yuval holds a Ph.D. in Human Factors Engineering from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheva, Israel, where he teaches at the department of
Health Systems Management, and leads the Human Factors in Healthcare laboratory.​

Ph.D. Thesis: Scheduling of Activities and Responding to Alarms in the Control of a Complex System.
Advisors:  Prof. David Shinar, Prof. Ehud Zmora, and Prof. Joachim Meyer.
Developed and tested a conceptual model that describes operators’ work in complex environments. As test case for the model served the work of nurses in a neonate intensive care unit.
